Our Story

Dedicated to alleviating food poverty and reducing waste in our community since 2014.

Who We Are

We Care Food Bank is a not-for-profit charity based in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. We are a voluntary group of 20 members who collect food on a daily basis, maintain stock, and distribute food parcels to families and individuals experiencing food poverty. We work with local supermarkets – Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, and also KFC through the Neighbourly & FoodCloud programmes to collect their surplus food on a daily basis, thus helping to eliminate food wastage and ensuring that the food goes to those who need it. We receive a quarterly allocation of food from ESF in Dublin which amounts to 20% of our stock per quarter.

History

We Care Food Bank was set up in 2014 to meet the emerging needs of families & individuals experiencing food deprivation in the area. From small beginnings, we have now developed into a significant charity that provides support to the ever-increasing numbers of those in need.

Governance

We Care has a Governance Compliance Policy in place in accordance with the Charities Regulation Guidelines.
